Roger Dale Shick

Roger D. Shick, 65 of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Sunday February 1, 2026 in the HSHS St John’s Hospital Springfield, Illinois. He was born February 20, 1960 the son of Robert Shick and Rosemary (Whitley) Schwerdt.  Roger married Christina Grieco on July 30, 1983 in Strasburg, Illinois. Roger worked in roofing and construction for his entire life. He loved fishing, hunting, and  driving around in his Cadillac and rat rod. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Roger was a generous man who was known for helping anyone in need. He could often be seen with his beloved canine companion Doebuck.

He is survived by his wife, Chris; son, Roger Shick Jr., daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Esker; grandchildren, Jayden Reynolds, Mikenzie Shick, Domenic Shick, Roger Shick III, Melanie Shick, Manessah Esker, and Nehemiah Esker; great-grandchildren, Jax Reynolds, Dax Reynolds, and Mali Reynolds; brother, Larry (Alicia) Schwerdt, many nieces and nephews. 

Preceded by his parents, step-father, Larry "Poodle" Schwerdt, brothers, Steven Bapp, David "Hog" Shick, and sister, Judy Arnett.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday February 6, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Swengel - O’Dell funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois.
